Description
Product Description
The Rotary Encoder Sensor Module is an electronic sensing module used to detect rotary movement and convert it into electrical signals. It can be used to monitor rotation, determine the direction of movement, and count rotational steps in compatible electronic systems.
This module is suitable for Arduino projects, robotics, motor-control systems, automation, and DIY electronics. Depending on the module type, it may use optical or mechanical sensing to detect rotation and provide digital output signals to a microcontroller.
Rotary encoder modules are commonly used in robot navigation, motor position monitoring, speed measurement, and user-interface control systems.

How It Works
A rotary encoder detects rotation and generates electrical signals as its shaft or sensing element moves. A microcontroller reads these signals to count movement and, for suitable incremental encoders, determine the direction of rotation. Speed can also be estimated by measuring signal pulses over time.
Important Note
Rotary encoder modules are available in different designs, including mechanical, optical, and magnetic types. The resolution, operating voltage, pin configuration, and output signal format depend on the exact model. Confirm these details against the supplied module before connecting it to your project.
The Rotary Encoder Module Sensor is a rotary input device (as in knob) that provides an indication of how much the knob has been rotated AND what direction it is rotating in. It’s a great device for stepper and servo motor control. You could also use it to control devices like digital potentiometers
