Description
MQ-7 Carbon Monoxide CO Gas Sensor Module
The MQ-7 Carbon Monoxide (CO) Gas Sensor Module is designed for detecting changes in the concentration of carbon monoxide gas in the surrounding environment. It is commonly used in Arduino, microcontroller, robotics, automation, and DIY electronics projects.
The module provides a convenient interface for connecting the MQ-7 sensor to a compatible microcontroller. It can be used to develop gas monitoring, warning, and detection prototypes where carbon monoxide sensing is required.
The MQ-7 uses a semiconductor gas-sensing element and requires an appropriate heating cycle for reliable CO measurement. For quantitative gas concentration measurement, proper calibration and suitable environmental compensation are required.

How It Works
The MQ-7 contains a gas-sensitive material whose electrical resistance changes when exposed to carbon monoxide. A compatible circuit or microcontroller can monitor this change to detect the presence and variation of CO.
For meaningful concentration measurements, the sensor should be operated using the appropriate heater cycle, allowed sufficient warm-up time, and calibrated under the intended environmental conditions.
Important Note
The MQ-7 is primarily a carbon monoxide sensor. Although some product listings may describe it as detecting methane, butane, LPG, smoke, or coal gas, these should not be treated as the primary specifications of the MQ-7 without verification for the particular sensor/module.
The module is intended for prototyping, education, and gas-monitoring applications. It should not be used as a substitute for a certified carbon-monoxide alarm or safety-critical gas detection system.
MQ-7 CO Carbon Monoxide Coal Gas Sensor Module detects the concentrations of CO in the air and outputs its reading as an analog voltage. The sensor can measure concentrations of 10 to 10,000 ppm.
The sensor can operate at temperatures from -10 to 50°C and consumes less than 150 mA at 5 V.
This module provides both digital and analog outputs. The threshold level for digital output can be easily adjusted using the preset on the board. The MQ-7 sensor module can be easily interfaced with Micro-controllers, Arduino and etc.
